It wasn't like Acedia didn't have any friends, she had friends, and she had no problem making them. Well, in a sense. But it was rare for her to become so easily attached to a new friend. Especially since she was so out of practice meeting new people technically, having grown up in the same town she was currently living in. Maybe it was because Alex was technically a native too? Even though they hadn't technically met before, it was something they had in common. A place of birth was a big thing to have in common, definitely helpful in feeling more comfortable with people.
"What do you think Jolteon?" She said, looking down at the yellow Pokemon at her side, par the usual. She knew people were used to seeing her and Jolteon out together, and this time there was added company. On her head rested the little mouse Pichu, who Alex had had the pleasure of battling the other day when he came to the gym. For such a young Pokemon, Acedia thought Pichu had done very well. He still needed training of course, but still. He had definitely improved on his aim. In response to her question, Jolteon just looked up at Acedia like she was crazy. And with reason, he wasn't a mind reader. He was an electric type, not a psychic type. Acedia giggled and shook her head, careful not to shake Pichu off. "Sorry Jolteon, thinking out loud."
Her four-legged companion rolled his eyes at Acedia and shook his head, but his attention instantly perked. They were here. Alex's mansion. Acedia had promised to come here after she got off work, to hang out. She was so ecstatic to be here, she was practically bouncing. She rang the door bell, blinking when she felt movement from Pichu and hurriedly held her arms out to catch the tiny Pokemon as it fell from his perch on Acedia's head. "Silly Pichu. You should be more careful!" She scolded gently, unable to resist smiling when the Pokemon merely looked up at Acedia and giggled in its own way. She chuckled, and adjusted how she held him so that he faced forward, waiting for someone to answer the door anxiously.

He paced around his room anxiously, back and forth and back and forth, hands held together behind his back. He stared at the ground as he went, a look of nervousness on his face as he went to and fro. He made not a sound though, his steps were light and graceful, as they were raised to be. Plus the floor was carpeted. But he didn't hum nervously, he just silently paced. The air around him was tense, expecting. It was a good thing there was nobody else around to see him like this, any interruption of his train of thought would break it so violently that he would probably snap physically and jump up in the air. Nobody but Haunter and he knew why he was acting this way, because he had told nobody what was going to happen today. He was embarrassed, but not in a bad way.
Acedia Florianus was to come to his house today for a visit. He was ecstatic, but because of that, he was nervous. So nervously excited that he didn't want to tell anyone, not even his father. He was already under so much anxious stress that he didn't know if he could handle the amused chuckle he would no doubt give off, and the speech he would receive making him feel even more like a child. And he hated feeling this way too, he never had before. Normally things that would embarrass normal children had no effect on him, and he'd just handle them with a blank indifferent face, or when it came to things requiring him to tell somebody, he'd just let them know like it didn't matter. But this...this was a girl coming to his house! This was such a big thing, and such a sudden thing either. He'd never even thought of girls before, now all of a sudden he had met one, and invited her over, just like that! Now all of a sudden he didn't know what to do, what to think. But that was just it. This was the first time he could remember where his rational mind was completely unhelpful. What could that possibly mean?!
Of course there were plenty of rational possibilities flying through his head to answer that question. Aside from being a girl, she was a cool person, fun too, but more importantly, the first real friend he had ever had. Naturally he'd be excited to see her even if she was a he, right? She was also a trainer, someone he could relate to. There was that. But none of those pieces seemed to solve the puzzle completely. It drove him insane, and he couldn't stop wondering or stressing what it was all about as he paced back and forth in his room. Oh yes, he was nervous, just the thought of seeing her again exhilarated and terrified him all at the same time. What to do what to do...
As he continued to loop his room, Haunter just hovered in the corner and watched him, turning his head in perfect sync. He knew why he was making such a big deal out of this, and really he thought it was unnecessary. An overreaction was definitely a word he would use to explain his actions, but there was nothing to be done about it. He had tried earlier to calm him down by yelling at him in a comforting tone, but that didn't work, he was completely ignored. So he just decided to let him have his little fit. As soon as she showed up he'd jump, run around in circles, but as soon as he answered the door he'd be completely cool all over again, like nothing was wrong. He knew his trainer even better than he knew himself really. He only stressed before hand, but when stuff got started, he was cool and collected. So he wasn't worried.
Suddenly Alex stopped in his tracks, and took in a deep breath. He turned on his feel to face Haunter, mouth wide open as if to speak. Haunter looked at him with one eyebrow raised, wondering where this was about to go. "Okay Haunter, she's going to be here soon. Its almost the agreed upon time. I need you to stay cool, and not be awkward or crazy, okay?" Naturally, Haunter just floated there and stared at him. When the doorbell suddenly rang and he jumped almost to the ceiling of his room, all he could do is roll his eyes and slowly float out of the door after his trainer.
Alex practically slid out of his room into the main foyer, where he saw his butler Jeffrey about to answer the door. Just before his hands curled around the knob, Alex shouted at him waving his hands in the air, "No, no! Its okay Jeffrey, I'll answer the door. You don't have to." In response, Jeffrey simply and slowly turned to face Alex with a blank face and matter-of-factly tone, "I'm sorry Master Alexander, but it is my duty to answer the door and direct guests to their place of business within the house." With that, he turned back to face the door and begin to open it. In response Alex just briefly flailed around, saying, "Ack! Jeffrey!" and scrambling to find somewhere to be. He found himself retreating to the living room.
Jeffrey opened the large door to see Acedia standing at the porch holding the Pichu, with Jolteon next to her. He blinked not a single time, but only looked down at her with a blank but unimposing face before speaking. "Good afternoon Miss Florianus. I see you have brought along Pichu and Jolteon, marvelous. Here to see Master Alexander? He is in the living room, no doubt trying to act...cool. Allow me to escort you." Without another word, he promptly began leading Acedia into the foyer and through the house to the living room, where Alex was sitting in a large comfortable chair, a book in his hand open half way, as if he had been nonchalantly reading it this entire time. He looked up when Jeffrey entered the room with Acedia behind him, and watched him step to the side out of the way of her, as he said, "Master Alexander, Miss Florianus here to see you." After which, he bowed and left the room.
After he left, Alex calmly got off the chair, putting the book down, and approached her with a pleasant smile on his face, playing off the cool act even more. "Hey Ace, I'm glad you could make it. And you brought Jolteon and Pichu too! I'm sorry, but Shuppet is sleeping right now so I only have Haunter with me." So he was able to act cool all the way up to this point, where he knew not what to do. Should he offer a handshake, or was that too formal? Should he go for a hug, or was that too INformal for only their second meeting? Should he stand there, or was that too indifferent altogether? He felt his palms starting to sweat just a little bit in nervousness, and found himself unable to act anymore, and instead only prepared himself to observe her reaction, and possibly act accordingly to what she did or said. Behind him Haunter simply rolled his eyes, again.

Acedia blinked at the wooden door, had she heard voices? She stared at the door a moment, swearing she heard muffled voices from beyond the threshold. Her eyes stared at the large wooden door curiously, her head tilting to the side slightly. Her gaze turned briefly to Jolteon, who looked up at her a moment before shrugging, and then the door opened. She blinked up at the elderly gentleman before her, recognizing him vaguely. But her mind wasn't on that right now, and so she ignored it. The last thing she needed right now was to be distracted by this man's familiarity, she had other things to worry about!
The man started walking before she could really get a word in, but she found a way to anyway. Talkative as she was, if she didn't get a word in then she might as well change her name. "Ah, I brought my other Pokemon too if that's alright, sir. Its just that Pichu and Jolteon don't like being in their Pokeballs too much." She said, smiling and chuckling lightly, smiling down at her companions when they both made sounds of agreement. She laughed quietly as she reflected on the man's words about Alex. "Silly boys, always trying to act cool. It only makes them act funny." She said, though inwardly she was wreck now even more so than before. I had no idea I made him that nervous! Gah! What do I do now?! But one tug on her jeans from Jolteon and Acedia managed to force her breathing to stabilize. And right on time too.
Upon entering the room, Acedia couldn't help but be distracted. It was so big! And extravagant! Everything looked so expensive that she was almost afraid to breath, she might break something! "Ah! Oh, please just call me- Ace...." She called after the butler, sighing with a huff. She had hoped to get him to stop calling her 'Miss', it made her feel old. She turned back to Alex when she heard a book close, smiling at him as he approached her. After hearing what the butler said, you would think she would be keenly aware to Alex's act. But she wasn't, she was far too busy being a nervous wreck who was trying to keep it cool. "Yeah, I brought the others too but these guys prefer being outside their Pokeballs." She said, setting Pichu down next to Jolteon, who promptly picked up the baby Pokemon to prevent him from scurrying over to something shiny and breakable.
"Ah, that's cool! I hope Haunter won't mind Pichu for company. They can all play together!" She suggested happily, though she couldn't help a nervous glance around the room. "Maybe...Maybe Haunter can take them somewhere with less things Pichu might break? Heheh...Pichu still hasn't really learned the 'don't touch' lesson." She admitted with embarrassment, turning her gaze to Alex before looking away shyly. Finally, she couldn't take just standing there any longer. Shaking hands was out of the question, it was far too formal to be her normal. And just as Haunter rolled his eyes, Jolteon rolled his at Acedia, looking at Haunter with Pichu still hanging from his jaws as if to criticize their humans. "Humans." He seemed to say, shaking his head. He knew Haunter would get it. Meanwhile, Acedia finally gathered up the courage to do this. She walked up to Alex nervously and hugged him in a friendly way, only capable of hoping he wouldn't flinch. She normally a 'huggy; person, so this was her norm. This was what would be acceptable.
"How ya been, Alex?" She asked as she slid back down to plant her feet firmly on the floor, backing away to give Alex the space required by the proper personal space bubble. She felt calmer now, now that the greeting was out of the way and they could talk and relax. It was...easier. There wasn't much to think about except what they wanted to do. Jolteon was beginning to tire of holding Pichu -- although that was mostly because he took baby-sitting the little ball of hyper energy very seriously, especially in someone else's territory -- so Acedia knew that it might be best to wander from this room. But she didn't want to suggest anything, because this was Alex's house. Hopefully he had some kind of plan for what they were going to do today, since they both seemed so nervous. True, she was feeling much better now. But if they didn't come up with something soon it could very easily become awkward, and that was a far cry from what Acedia wanted to happen.
