Acedia is a girl who dreams of traveling the world much like Ariel has, and becoming a powerful trainer. Because of Ariel's success and somewhat closeness to her immediate family, she is often praised to Acedia for her accomplishments. However she is not egotistical, and frankly disapproves of such outright praise. She hopes it does not ruin her young cousin's opinion of her. When she was young but recklessly passionate in her ideals, she came across a rival trainer who neglected and abused most of his pokemon to get the best out of them. Among these Pokemon, he revered his Pupitar, claiming it would soon evolve to be his most powerful. However, his neglect was leaving Pupitar and his other pokemon in a state of bad health. Ariel contacted the authorities about this, and had them all confiscated. Pupitar in particular was in seriously bad health, and whether or not it would survive was unknown. Unfortunately, it did not, however just before passing away, it left behind an egg. Ariel was distraught over this turn of events, but swore to raise the egg into a pokemon that would set the supreme example of pokemon-trainer cooperation and friendship. This pokemon was to be her Tyranitar. Ariel has traveled between many of the various regions before settling down as a gym leader. She found the Unova region particularly interesting, and immediately sought to acquire the most powerful dark type of the region. It was here that she found her Zoroark, and among her travels learned of the universal and important bond between pokemon and their trainers.
